Intelligent automation, when integrated with analytical software, can present cross-industry solutions.

Multiplas has stood as the leading mold injection machine brand for over three decades. Its experience and professionalism in the industry provide the best and most rounded customized services based on “professional knowledge, rapid planning and acceptable pricing.”

Multiplas Corp. believes that the ubiquity of plastic products in the Human society of the modern age underscores the importance of the machinery producing said products, and they should not be made in bulk and sold without any consideration of modularity.

Multiplas is proud to say that 90 percent of its sales, regardless of horizontal or vertical injection machines, are integrated systems or products customized to meet the client's specific needs.

A leader within the industry, Multiplas recognizes that traditional horizontal injection machines, while fairly capable of producing an assortment of products, have long production cycles and cumbersome procedures for mold-changing, both of which lower production yield creates high overhead costs.

For example, the largest Japanese precision motor manufacturer uses plastic gears manufactured by a Japanese-made horizontal injection machine, but the production cycle can take up to 90 seconds and a cooldown period of 20-30 seconds for one gear.

Add to the fact that gear specifications are varied and complex, which burden the factory whenever molds have to be changed to accommodate new orders or when switching over to a new production line.

Multiplas machines, however, significantly reduce production time and exponentially increase efficiency through the use of overmolding. The machines can also have new molds inserted immediately following the injection of the previous mold, manufacturing six gears per mold.

Citing the world’s largest golf ball manufacturer, the company said its intelligent injection system helped increase golf ball manufacturing processes three-fold.

Multiplas General Manager David Wu said that Multiplas’ vertical injection machinery and systems are used at 85 percent of all golf ball manufacturing plants.

The top three US cellphone manufacturers all use Multiplas machinery, which has mold injection tubes that can withstand 400 degrees of heat, a requisite temperature to produce the high rigidity plastic for cellphone frames.

Polypropylene Advanced Materials, now used to make most Bluetooth earbuds, also require a mold injection tube different from the mainstream tubes. Multiplas has demonstrated that it can only provide solutions for other plastic materials using existing machinery.

“The average cellphone generation lasts a year, and Multiplas has the only R&D team that is capable of beating the Germans and the Japanese in providing new product manufacturing solutions for different phones and their peripherals in such a short time,” Wu said.

Multiplas products have demonstrated parable quality of horizontal injection machines with greater efficiency, resulting in clients choosing to adopt the more efficient vertical injection machines, Wu said.

Aware of the industrial trend of adopting Industry 4.0, Multiplas has, as early as 2012, begun attempting to automate its systems when a client requested the automation of injection moldings that year.

Over the years, Multiplas developed the Injection Molding Execution System (IMES) and the Injection Computer Aided Manufacturing System (ICAM), both systems helping to convert human experiences into quantifiable data. The data is put into the system, modified by academic theories, for model mass analysis and other data, serving to inform clients of the capabilities and advantages of their product, as well as aid Multiplas in providing better products with greater efficiency.

In 2017, Multiplas went one step further and applied to be part of the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Smart Machinery Pilot Special Project. Upon being accepted, Multiplas spent two years developing and implementing an intelligent injection system, which was later trialed and used in the shoe-making industry.

For example, the manufacturing of track spikes is labor-intensive for both machines - requiring three devices, one for each separate layer required - and personnel, which have to attend to the machines, and change molds for different sized layers. The entire manufacturing cycle is the epitome of inefficiency.

Multiplas’ “smart” molding system presents the best intelligent automated processes. It combines the manufacturing processes of all three machines into one and allows mold swapping at any given time due to the automatic mold changing technology and transport via robots.

The system comes replete with optical examination systems, allowing the machine to automatically control the amount of mold materials injected, increasing yield rate and reducing personnel overhead for such processes.

Multiplas’ Research and Development Department Mancher Chin Chin-chuan said, “Smart automation results from an amalgamation of multiple technologies. All technology, integrated with professional analytical software, can be fine-tuned to present a solution that meets the client's needs across different industries.”

Mutiplas is confident that its vertical injection machines and integrated systems provide the best solutions and applicability for injection machines by acclimatizing to different industries and their standards.

Multiplas provides versatile molding solutions, innovative design and manufacturing for production systems, and comprehensive technical support services for clients in the information technology, electrical engineering, automotive, medical & optical and other specialized molding industries.

Multiplas provides injection molding applications for industries across PVC, rubber, ceramics and metals manufacturing, including insert molding, multi-component (or multi-color) molding, thermoset injection molding (for BMC and rubber), liquid injection molding (for LSR), powder injection molding (for metals and ceramics), in-mold-decoration molding (IML/IMR/IMF), and microinjection molding services. These services can be used on standard machines for single materials, standard machines for multiple colored materials, and devices with specific intent.

Multiplas’s primary strategy over recent years has been to provide “smart” production integration solutions for its clients, including processes to make machines more intelligent, automated, and professional while ensuring that it allows for a high degree of flexibility and customization. The goal is to create for clients a labor-saving, material-saving and cost-saving solution that also observes a factory’s social responsibility of achieving net zero emissions and environmental sustainability.
