The Chevalier FVL-8P & FVL-15P are vertical lathe for non-circular piston contouring that offers high-precision, versatility and productivity. This series is especially designed and are widely used in the automotive parts, engines and compressor industries. By using a simplified fixture design, it is especially suited for turning irregularly shaped workpieces.
The FVL-8P/15P is characterized by its one-piece design of machine body and machine base. Its big-slanted bed is equipped with a strong coolant device to completely flush out chips. The unique box way design employs the newest techniques for long-lasting and anti-wear, and furthermore reduces vibration, thus providing a higher machining accuracy (capable to achieve run-out less than 0.003mm and repeatability 0.001mm). The spindle uses double-row cylindrical roller bearings (NN) to provide the highest rigidity, and the spindle purge system prevents the spindle from being contaminated by dust, coolant and swarf. The machine is suited for configuration allowing automatic production line for mass production, while its compact size saves space.
Due to increasingly stricter environmental protection standards, piston material has been upgraded from steel to ceramic-aluminum. As the material is harder, it’s more difficult to process and tool life is usually greatly reduced. Chevalier’s tool life has been greatly increased from the original 10 pistons to 30 pistons, and furthermore, it provides higher sealing performance. Chevalier FVL-8P/15P models are already being used by suppliers to large European automakers of prestigious brands such as Daimler & Volkswagen Group.
